About the artist

Hey there, I'm thrilled you're here. My name is Josmar Martinez-Palmerini and I'm a Venezuelan born artist based in Los Angeles, California. I've always loved creating and keeping my hands busy with sculpting, painting, sketching (not related but I also find art in cooking) and I particularly find beauty in the raw and unrefined. I started painting using oils at 8 years old as a hobby and with the help of my grandmother learned some techniques that I still apply to this day. I decided to turn this hobby into a career and started getting involved in the film industry and worked my way up to Art Director which is what people call these days my "day job".

Working in the industry, I was exposed to so many creative people and this inspired me to start creating again. I think my work is deeply rooted in textures, tactile experience and the process my art goes through to build layers of depth and emotion. My pieces are a reflection of my personal experiences, trying to embrace the imperfections and vulnerabilities of life, and I often get inspired by natural landscapes, snapshots of random stuff I keep in the back of my head and the interplay of light and shadow. My intention is to evoke a sense of both quiet contemplation and powerful energy.

Through my brand, L’artte Studio, I'm exploring new ways of conveying emotion and storytelling with each piece I create. These pieces are not just a nice thing to hang on a wall but an invitation to engage with the surface, experience textures through the eyes, and to reflect on the complexities of the human experience. At least that's what I tell myself :) but I love hearing what people see in my artworks, creating their own stories through my pieces and tie them to the original idea. Blows my mind.

This is just the beginning of what I'm sure will be a wild ride, but I'm here for it. Thanks for taking the time to read about me, my inbox is always open and I welcome your feedback, comments and if my art is something that resonates with you, I'd love to create something together and explore your creative side.
